ResNet wired setup – 180 West Market Street

How do I get connected to the wired network?

Plug one end of your Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer. Plug the other end into the Ethernet jack in the wall. The jack is usually black and labeled with a number and the letter “D.” Please find the MAC Address of the device and go to the ResNet Registration Portal or download the installer (NetID/Password required). After running the installer or registering the device, restart your computer or disconnect and reconnect your cable.

Can I connect more than one device to the wired network in my room?

Although you can only connect one device per port to the wired network at a time, there is no restriction on the total number of network devices in a room. Residents with more wired devices than there are ports would be required to disconnect the current device and then connect the new device to the same Ethernet port.

How do I set up my console gaming system on the network?

If you wish to use a console on the network, please locate the MAC Address of the device and go to the ResNet Registration Portal. Once you fill out the form with the MAC Address of your device, you will need to restart your computer or disconnect and reconnect your cable.

I got a new computer or device. What do I need to do to get connected?

Please find the MAC Address of the device and go to the ResNet Registration Portal or download the installer (NetID/Password required). After running the installer or registering the device, restart your computer or disconnect and reconnect your cable. If you are attempting to use a device on the wired network that does not support the installer, please get in touch with the OIT Computing Help Desk at 833-OIT-HELP (648-4357) to have your device manually registered.
